Frequently asked questions F.A.Q.

Who are we and what do we do?

Raimar is a Bulgarian family-owned company with a production facility in the town of Kresna. For over 30 years, it has been creating high-quality natural stone products with respect for nature, local craftsmanship, and Bulgarian traditions.

The company was founded in 1993 by Boian Smilenov under the name ET "Boian Smilenov." The beginnings were humble: a small workshop, lots of persistence, even more hard work, and a strong belief in the power of local production.

From the very start, our mission has been clear:

To create quality Bulgarian products from natural stone that we can be proud of, helping our customers build beautiful and lasting outdoor spaces to share with family and friends.

Today, the company is run by the entire family:

  • Boyan Smilenov – A man with many years of managerial experience, a strong sense of responsibility, and a focus on quality and people — both customers and employees.

  • Eng. Raiko Smilenov – A top graduate in Civil Engineering from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy (UACEG), he leads production and ensures technical precision.

  • Mariya Tchileva – A graduate of the Technical University of Berlin, she is responsible for sales, international partnerships, and sustainable development.

Under the RAIMAR brand, we produce garden elements, cladding and paving from gneiss, granite, travertine, and marble, as well as custom-cut stairs and window sills, decorative stones for yards and gardens, and granite cobblestones.
Everything is crafted with care for natural resources and by the hands of master craftsmen from Kresna — people you can trust.

The name Raimar is more than just a brand. Ut stands for lasting value in natural stone, integrity, and continuity between generations.

What are the main characteristics of natural stone?

Each natural stone is unique, with variations resulting from its geological origin. Photos, images, and samples provide a general idea of colors and surface characteristics.

Natural deviations should be considered inherent to the stone material rather than defects. Samples and published images do not guarantee absolute uniformity in quartz veins, metamorphic banding, colors, spots, or slab structures, as these natural variations are normal.

The provided stone slab dimensions are nominal, meaning actual sizes fall within an acceptable tolerance range. Cut and shaped slabs labeled as “... x L” have random lengths, with only width and thickness variations specified. Machine-cut slabs are not calibrated and have a permissible tolerance of ±3mm.

Rough-textured and hand-chiseled slabs offer good slip resistance due to their cleft surface. The unevenness of the face results from manual splitting and chiseling. However, in wet conditions, surface roughness may be affected depending on temperature changes.

The water absorption and frost resistance of natural stone depend on climatic conditions, usage traffic, and compliance with proper installation, impregnation, and maintenance guidelines.

Natural stone products are sourced from raw materials extracted as blocks from nature, meaning there may be color variations, crystallization, sedimentation, or differences in shading and dimensions. For instance, in thermal-flamed granite, deviations of up to ±5mm in thickness are considered acceptable due to the uncontrolled surface texture.

Up to 5% of machine-cut stone slabs in a delivered batch may have minor edge breakage, for which Raimar is not liable for compensation or replacement.

All stone slabs absorb water, requiring mandatory impregnation with specialized care and maintenance products from AKEMI to ensure long-lasting durability.

Shipping and Delivery Information

Learn more about our "Order & Collect" service here.

The transport service is always at the recipient’s expense.

We organize deliveries in Bulgaria via courier companies Econt, Transpress, or with our own transport. If the order is in stock, delivery takes 2-3 business days nationwide, depending on the distribution schedule for your location.

For a pallet order with a value of up to €100 | BGN 195.58, an additional “Pallet Packaging” fee of €6 | BGN 11.73 will be applied.

Stone slabs are packed on wooden pallets or crates for cost-effective transportation and easy loading/unloading. If packaging in boxes is required, an additional "Box Packaging Service" fee/sq.m. applies.

For pallet shipments containing cut-to-size slabs (granite, marble, or travertine sills and steps), the maximum pallet length is 160 cm and the weight limit is 700 kg. A "Wooden Crate Service" fee is charged for additional packaging.

Courier trucks are large (12 tons) and usually equipped with a tail lift and pallet jack for easier unloading and moving of pallets. To unload at your front door, there must be easy physical access to the drop-off location. Otherwise, unloading will be at the nearest accessible street where the truck can maneuver.

The courier service delivers to the house’s front door or the building’s street entrance. The driver is alone and not responsible for moving pallets. The pallet jack cannot pass over steps, curbs, thresholds, or grass.

If the delivery address is incomplete, incorrect, or has an invalid phone number, any additional transport costs for redirecting the shipment are at the customer’s expense.

Contact us directly for an exact nationwide delivery price quote.

Before shipping from our Kresna warehouse, we always coordinate with the customer to ensure the most convenient delivery date.

If the customer wishes to exercise the right to return within 14 days of receiving the order, the return shipping cost is the customer’s responsibility. The right of return does not apply to custom-made products, items produced per the customer’s specifications, or products that have been installed or used.

For cash-on-delivery payments (COD), an additional "COD Fee" of 2% is applied to the order total. To avoid this fee, we recommend prepayment via bank transfer (we will provide a proforma invoice with all required details).

Alternatively, customers can arrange their own transport and pick up their order directly from our Kresna warehouse after confirmation of readiness for dispatch.

What is the delivery time?

The delivery of orders that are in stock is completed within a maximum of 1 week.

Our delivery time for orders that are out of stock is several weeks after the order confirmation.

The delivery time also depends on our production workload. We always provide an estimated shipping date along with the order confirmation, so that proper planning can be made.

What is the price of gneiss per square meter?

The price of gneiss per square meter varies depending on the type, size, and processing of the stone. Here are some of the available options and their prices:

  • Unshaped small slabs (25-40 pcs./sq.m): Suitable for wall and plinth cladding. Prices start from 5.40 BGN/sq.m.

  • Unshaped large slabs (12-16 pcs./sq.m): Used for facade or fence cladding. Prices range from 11.00 BGN/sq.m to 22.00 BGN/sq.m.

  • Pathway slabs №4: Large and heavy slabs with a thickness of 3-5 cm, suitable for garden paths. The price is around 22.00 BGN/sq.m.

  • Shaped slabs (cut, rectangular 5xL, 7xL, 10xL, etc.): Suitable for wall cladding with a more precise design. Prices range from 28.00 BGN/sq.m to 50.00 BGN/sq.m and upwards.

How much does it cost to glue gneiss stone?

The price for gluing gneiss depends on several factors: the type of stone (unshaped or shaped), the complexity of the installation, the type of surface, the size of the joints, and the chosen grouting mixture. Also, the location of the project and the region of the country are important: generally, craftsmen in smaller towns work at lower prices compared to those in Sofia.

On average, the labor prices for stone installation start from 40 - 50 BGN/sq.m for standard gluing of gneiss onto a prepared surface.

For more complex cladding, such as on uneven surfaces or with precise fitting, the price can reach 60-100 BGN/sq.m.

Grouting is charged separately, and the price varies depending on the chosen materials.

For an accurate quote, it is recommended to inspect the site and consult with several craftsmen and construction companies.

The cost of gneiss installation (gluing) also depends on whether you do it yourself or hire a professional.

If you decide to glue it yourself, the costs will be for materials: high-quality flexible adhesive for stone (~34 BGN/bag, one bag ~25 kg covers about 3-4 sq.m), plus grout mixture and an impregnator for stone protection.

In this way, the cost for gluing gneiss stone can be reduced. In any case, for a strong and durable result, do not skimp on good adhesive and foundation waterproofing before installation. DIY installation saves costs but requires precision to avoid mistakes in leveling and grouting. If you are unsure, consult a stonemasonry expert.

Can the barbecues and ovens be used in indoor spaces or as a fireplace?

No. The barbecues and ovens are intended for outdoor use only.

Most Frequently Asked Questions About Ready-Made Garden Fountains and Sinks

What materials do you use for outdoor fountains and sinks?

Our garden fountains and outdoor sinks are made of reinforced concrete and clad with natural stone. The concrete basins are weather-resistant and extremely durable. All products are handmade at our production facility in Kresna.

Is the outdoor fountain with basin suitable for a summer kitchen?

Yes. Models with a basin and countertop are a great addition to any summer kitchen or BBQ area. They offer convenience for washing, outdoor work, and daily use.

Do garden fountains require special maintenance?

We recommend periodic cleaning with water and a soft brush, and impregnation every 2–3 years. For longer-lasting protection, especially when aggressive cleaning products are used, a natural stone sealer can be applied once a year. This protects the surface from dirt, freeze-thaw cycles, and helps preserve its natural appearance.

Is home delivery available?

Yes, we deliver nationwide, including with specialized transport featuring a tail lift and pallet jack, allowing for easy unloading of the fountain. The only requirement is truck access via asphalt or concrete.

Can I see the fountains in person before purchasing?

Absolutely! You're welcome to visit our production base in Kresna or our showroom in Sofia at 9 Boris Arsov St. (near Simeonovsko Shose), where you can view samples of our outdoor fountains, sinks, and other natural stone products.

Are garden fountains suitable for winter conditions?

Yes, our products are frost-resistant. However, we recommend draining water from the pipes before winter. The basin and base can withstand freezing if properly impregnated and used under normal conditions.

Is it difficult to install a garden sink?

Installation is simple and doesn't require specialized tools. The garden sink is placed on a level base — such as a concrete slab or patio tiles. Connection to the water supply can be done by your handyman or a plumber. We recommend bonding and fixing the elements with cement-based natural stone adhesive (C2TES1). Typically, 2–3 people can complete the installation in 2–3 hours.

Do the garden products have stone cladding on the back as well?

In most cases, our garden products are installed against a wall, so their backs are finished with a cement plaster and do not have stone cladding on the back.

Additionally, we can create a double-faced garden product as a custom project if it is to be placed in a more central location and will be visible from all four sides, 360°.

Feel free to ask for a specific offer at phone/Viber +359 898 461 913 or by email, and we will be happy to assist you.

Can I place a custom order based on my own design for garden products?

We are open to fulfilling all practically possible requests from our customers.

You can check out some of the individual projects we’ve produced in our BLOG or on Facebook @RaimarBulgaria.

Changing the standard sizes leads to modifications in the production molds and an increase in the product cost by 30%.

Can I purchase on installment?

We do not work with a specific credit company.

We recommend the best option being payment with "Cash on Delivery" and paying the courier with your personal credit card upon receipt.

Tip: Review the available credit cards on the market and choose one that offers an option to pay for purchases within an installment plan.
Check the terms of your credit card to see the interest rates, fees, and payment periods.

Once you begin the installment plan, it is very important to pay the minimum amount specified in your monthly credit statement on time.
Regularly check your account and statements to ensure all payments have been made correctly.
When you have paid off the full amount of the installment plan, the credit for these specific purchases will be settled. Make sure you have received confirmation of this and that there are no remaining obligations.

It is important to keep in mind that the terms of the credit card may vary depending on the bank or financial institution offering it. Therefore, before choosing a specific credit card or making purchases with it, review and understand the detailed terms, fees, and requirements associated with the installment plan, so that you can make an informed decision and manage your finances responsibly.

What is the packaging?

Our main method of packaging an order is on a European pallet with dimensions of 80/120 cm. We secure it with Styrofoam, stretch film, cardboard, and chambers.

If the stone slabs need to be placed in boxes, an additional "Packaging in Boxes" service is charged: 5 BGN/sq.m.

When sending orders from our "Sills and Steps" product category with custom-sized slabs, we require that the slabs be no longer than 140 cm, and the weight of the crate should not exceed 700 kg. The price for the "Wooden Crate" packaging is 36 BGN/piece.

What is the difference between polished, flamed, and leather granite?

Types of surface treatments and textures of granite:

Polished granite – Smooth, mirror-like surface that highlights the colors and patterns of the stone. Suitable for interior flooring, window sills, interior stairs and staircases, countertops, and walls.

Flamed granite – Rough, non-slip texture created by burning the surface. Suitable for outdoor flooring, stairs, and high-traffic areas.

Leather granite – Matte, slightly rough surface with a velvet-like feel. It preserves the natural appearance of the stone and is less prone to staining than polished granite. Often used for window sills, interior staircases, walls, and decorative elements.

  • Много ниска водопоглъщаемост (E ≤ 0.5%), което гарантира мразоустойчивост и студоустойчивост;

  • Киселинна устойчивост – не се зацапва от киселинни дъждове, мазнини или почистващи препарати;

  • Противоплъзгаща повърхност (R10 или R11), подходяща за мокри зони и външни пространства;

  • Устойчивост на UV-лъчи и петна, с отблъскващо замърсявания покритие;

  • Свободно полагане върху пясък, трева, чакъл или постаменти (пиедестали);

How to maintain outdoor flooring made of stone slabs and thermally flamed granite?

Stone is the easiest material to maintain – natural stone flooring does not change its colors, and most stains fade over time without leaving permanent marks.

Regular Cleaning – Use water and a neutral cleaning solution to remove dirt from stone slabs and thermally flamed granite. Avoid aggressive chemicals that can damage the surface.

Impregnation – Apply a specialized impregnator for natural stone, which will protect the flooring from moisture, dirt, and stains.

Moss and Mold Removal – In humid conditions, clean with biodegradable mold and algae removers to prevent build-up.

Deep Cleaning – When needed, a pressure washer can restore the stone to its original appearance by removing accumulated dust and dirt over time.

Periodic Maintenance – Check the joints and refill them when necessary to prevent water penetration and freezing during the winter.

How often should natural stone be sealed?

The frequency of sealing depends on the type of stone, its location, and how intensively it’s used. As a general rule:

  • Interior cladding – every 10 years

  • Exterior cladding – every 5 years

  • Paving and wet areas – every 2 years or when the water-repellent effect visibly decreases

Impregnation acts like an “invisible umbrella” – it protects the stone from moisture, stains, and frost without altering its natural appearance (unless you choose a “wet look” to enhance the colors).

We always recommend using specialized products for natural stone, such as AKEMI (Germany) or LTP (UK) – time-tested, safe, and offering long-lasting protection.

Pro tip: If water no longer beads on the surface and starts soaking in, it’s time for a new application.

Who is the German manufacturer for cleaning and maintenance of natural stone, AKEMI?

AKEMI is a leading German manufacturer of professional cleaning, impregnation, and maintenance products for natural stone. The company has over 80 years of experience and offers high-quality solutions for the protection of granite, marble, travertine, gneiss, and other types of stone.

AKEMI products are specifically designed to extend the lifespan and preserve the natural appearance of stone surfaces, providing resistance against water, oils, and stains.

At Raimar, we offer a selection of the best AKEMI impregnators, cleaning agents, and protective coatings to ensure the long-lasting durability and flawless appearance of your natural stone.

What are the prices of outdoor tiles for yards, and what is important to know?

Prices of Outdoor Tiles for Yards – What Matters Most?

The prices of outdoor tiles for yards primarily depend on the type of material and its processing method. However, what truly matters is not just the initial price, but how long they will last and how safe they will be over time.

When choosing yard tiles for daily use—whether for walking, playing, garden furniture, or even vehicle traffic—the most reasonable choice is natural stone. It is resistant to sun, rain, snow, and heavy loads, does not wear out easily, and remains non-slip even when wet.

Best Solutions for Durability and Safety:

Thermally flamed granite tiles – rough, non-slip surface, extremely durable in outdoor conditions
Gneiss tiles – diverse textures and colors, rustic charm, and high durability close to granite
Pathway stones – for quick path formation without the need for adhesive
Pavers and curbstones – for strong, stable surfaces with higher load capacity
Natural stone slabs for yards and pathsunshaped stone and outdoor tiles for a reliable exterior pavement

Each of these options has its own value and application, but they all share one thing in common—natural stone remains stable and beautiful for years, without the need for frequent replacement.

This is an investment that pays off—not just in appearance, but also in the peace of mind that you have chosen the right material.

What is the best stone for a house plinth, and why is this choice a long-term investment?

Choosing the Best Stone for a House Plinth – A Long-Term Investment

Selecting stone for a house plinth is not just an aesthetic detail—it is one of the most crucial long-term investments in the overall look and durability of the façade. The plinth serves as the first line of defense against moisture, cold, and mechanical impact, so the material must be natural, durable, and harmoniously matched to the house’s style and surroundings.

All natural stones we offer are suitable for outdoor use. When treated with a high-quality sealer, they remain stable and weather-resistant for decades—without deformation, fading, or cracking. The choice between them mainly depends on the desired architectural vision:

  • For traditional or mountain-style houses, gneiss is unmatched—whether shaped, unshaped, or with a split-face texture. It feels organic, adds stability, and blends perfectly with Bulgarian architectural heritage.

  • EN 12371 – устойчивост на цикли замръзване и размразяване;

  • EN 13755 – водопоглъщане на естествен камък;

  • EN 1926 – якост на натиск;

How to lay granite cobblestones?

Laying granite cobblestones is not as difficult as it seems, as long as a few basic steps are followed:

Base preparation – First, a drainage layer is created to ensure proper water runoff. Crushed stone or gravel is most commonly used, which is well compacted.
The drainage layer for paving intended for vehicular traffic should be 15–20 cm thick.

Laying sand (fine gravel) – A layer of fine gravel (similar in size to mosaic pieces) is spread and leveled over the drainage layer. This is the leveling layer on which the cobblestones are laid, and it should be about 2 cm thick.

Laying the cobblestones – The cobblestones are arranged on the gravel and fixed with a rubber mallet, ensuring straight lines, proper slope, and a tight fit.

Joint filling with sand – Once the cobblestones are in place, the joints are filled (swept) with fine sand. This ensures the stability of the pavement.

Compacting – Before and after joint filling, the cobblestones are compacted with a plate compactor to ensure proper density and leveling.

How is natural stone grouted, and what should the joints be like?

Grouting natural stone requires attention to the width of the joints, the type of adhesive, and the appropriate grouting material.

For wall cladding, we recommend joints between 1 and 2 cm, while for flooring, a minimum width of 2 cm is advised to prevent cracking due to temperature expansion.

Always use flexible adhesive of class C2TES1 and elastic grout mixtures suitable for outdoor use.

What are decorative claddings – wall panels – SKIN stone wallpapers, and what are they suitable for?

Stone Wallpapers SKIN – Ultra-Thin Decorative Wall Panels

SKIN stone wallpapers are ultra-thin decorative wall panels made from real natural stone (literally peeled slate stone), which is adhered to a flexible fiberglass and PVC backing. With a thickness of just 2 mm and a weight of approximately 1.5 kg per panel, they offer the beautiful texture and appearance of stone, yet with exceptional lightness, flexibility, and easy installation.

These decorative claddings are suitable for both interior walls—living rooms, kitchens, fireplaces, bedrooms, bathrooms, staircases—and exterior facades, plinths, columns, and other architectural elements. They are installed using Soudal polymer adhesive on a clean surface, often without the need for grouting. Their design allows cutting with an angle grinder or circular saw, making installation incredibly accessible—even for those without professional experience.

SKIN stone wallpapers are resistant to moisture, heat, and weather conditions, making them an excellent choice for high-traffic areas and fireplace cladding. They are easy to maintain and can be impregnated for additional protection, combining natural aesthetics with practicality and a modern approach to both interior and exterior design.

What is the difference between natural and artificial stone?

Criteria Natural Stone Artificial Stone (Gypsum/Cement Cladding)
Origin Natural material – extracted from quarries Artificially produced from gypsum, concrete, or resins – man-made
Uniqueness Each piece is unique – color, texture, patterns Repetitive shapes and patterns – produced from molds
Durability Long-lasting, resistant to impact and wear More fragile, prone to cracking and chipping
Weather Resistance Excellent – unaffected by UV, rain, or frost Often fades and deteriorates with moisture and cold
Maintenance Easy – with proper sealing, lasts for decades Requires frequent replacement or maintenance
Outdoor Use Suitable for facades, plinths, fences, and wall decoration Mostly for interiors – not recommended for outdoor use
Aesthetics Over Time Ages beautifully – develops a noble patina Looks “worn out,” often flakes or yellows over time
Weight Heavier material Lighter, making installation easier
Cost Higher initial investment Lower cost, but often with a shorter lifespan
Environmental Impact Low – no chemicals, recyclable, manually extracted Higher – contains synthetic components

If you’re looking for a truly lasting and natural appearance, natural stone is the best investment – especially for exterior cladding and areas exposed to moisture or sunlight.

Artificial stone can be a temporary solution for interior accents, but it cannot compare in durability and beauty.

If you’re hesitating between natural or artificial stone for cladding – real stone is a long-term investment for generations, while artificial stone offers a temporary look at a lower cost.

What is placed underneath white and colored decorative stones in the garden?

When creating pathways, relaxation areas, or decorative zones with white decorative garden stones, it's important to prepare a proper base so the project looks good and lasts over time. If the stones are simply spread over soil, they may sink, mix with the dirt, and lose their visual appeal.

The most practical solution is to use parking grids with geotextile—special underlays that stabilize the stones, prevent weed growth, and make maintenance easier. Check out our FIX parking grid systems for outdoor surfaces, which are perfect for this purpose when you're looking for a durable landscaping solution.

An alternative method of stabilization includes the use of agrotextiles or mulch covers, which are laid directly over the soil. They block weed growth and reduce maintenance needs. These are available in different densities and widths—from thin covers for decorative areas to more durable geotextiles for zones with heavy traffic. It's important to secure the agrotextile well and cover it evenly with stones to avoid sun exposure and tearing over time.

To neatly and precisely define the borders of your stone-covered area, we recommend using lawn edging and garden borders. These not only give a finished look but also help keep the stones in place during rain or irrigation.

Calculator for Auxiliary Materials for Stone Installation (adhesive, grout, primer, mesh, and dowels)

C2TES1 Adhesive Calculator for Natural Stone

To calculate the required amount of adhesive, use the following formula:

Area (in m²) × consumption (in kg/m²)

The standard consumption of flexible cement-based adhesive C2TES1 is 3–5 kg/m², depending on the thickness of the stone and the flatness of the substrate.

  • For small tiles and a smooth wall: approx. 3 kg/m²

  • For uneven surfaces and a thicker adhesive layer: up to 5 kg/m²

Tip: Always plan for at least 10% extra when ordering.

Primer (Concrete Contact) Calculator Before Gluing Stone

The easiest way to calculate the required amount of primer is to multiply the wall area by the consumption rate.
We recommend a universal primer such as Concrete Contact, suitable for use with cement-based adhesives.

This is a special type of primer used to fill pores and create an adhesive bridge between smooth, low-absorption surfaces (e.g. concrete, drywall, cement boards) and the next construction layers such as plaster, tile adhesive, or putty.

What does concrete contact do?

  • Improves adhesion between concrete and the next construction layer

  • Reduces the risk of detachment

  • Equalizes absorption, especially on smooth or non-absorbent surfaces

  • Ensures uniform drying of the following layers

It usually contains synthetic resins and quartz sand, which creates a slightly rough surface after drying.

Concrete Contact Consumption Rate on Walls

Consumption depends on the manufacturer and the surface texture, but typically it's about 200–350 ml/m².

So, 1 liter of concrete contact primer covers approximately 3–5 m² of wall.

Example:
If you have a wall of 20 m²:
You’ll need about 4 to 7 liters of primer, depending on the wall’s smoothness and absorbency.

Important: Apply the primer to a clean, dry, dust-free surface and let it dry completely before gluing.

Grout Calculator for Joints of ~5 mm

Stone Thickness Grout Consumption (kg/m²)
1–2 cm 0.5–1.0 kg/m²
2–3 cm 1.0–1.5 kg/m²
3–4 cm 1.5–2.5 kg/m²

Notes:

  • The above values are approximate and depend on joint irregularities, the shape of the stone, and the installation method.

  • For wider or deeper joints (with thicker stones), grout consumption increases significantly.

  • With gneiss tiles with uneven edges, grout usage can be 30–40% higher than shown in the table.

  • Cement-based grout usually comes in 25 kg bags, covering 10 to 30 m², depending on the width and depth of the joints.

Calculator for Reinforcement Mesh with Dowels and Mortar on Walls Before Stone Installation

Here’s how to calculate the quantities:

Mesh:

Use galvanized metal mesh with 50×50 mm openings and Ø1.8 mm wire.
To cover 10 m², you need at least 10 m² of mesh + 10% extra for overlaps.

Dowels:

Plan for about 6 dowels per m² to ensure strong and stable attachment to concrete walls.
Use dowels with washers.
Spacing: Max. 40–50 cm both vertically and horizontally.

Mortar:

If embedding the mesh in a thin layer of plaster (approx. 5 mm), estimate 8–10 kg/m² of dry cement mix.

If gluing directly over the mesh:
You may apply C2TES1 flexible adhesive instead of separate mortar, but ensure full coverage of the mesh.
In this case, the consumption is higher — up to 5 kg/m².

Tip: Always ensure complete coverage of the mesh with the bonding layer and a well-anchored structure for a long-lasting cladding.

Why is reinforcement mesh needed for heavy stone?

When installing heavy cladding (approx. 40–50 kg/m²) on vertical surfaces, especially on tall façades, thermal insulation, bricks, or weaker substrates, the reinforcement mesh serves to:

  • Provide additional strength and weight distribution

  • Improve adhesion between the adhesive and the wall

  • Prevent detachment, cracks, and sagging

  • Absorb linear expansion due to temperature changes

For very heavy stones or unstable substrates, galvanized steel mesh is preferable.

After the mesh – what’s next?

  • If the substrate is very uneven or highly porous:
→ Apply a thin layer of putty or tile adhesive over the mesh and let it set. This evens out the surface.

  • If the wall is stable and the mesh is well-tensioned and fixed:
→ You can glue directly over the mesh using C2TES1 flexible adhesive, especially if the back of the stone is relatively flat.

Important:
Always apply adhesive to both the wall and the back of the stone — this is known as the “double comb” method to ensure full surface contact and a strong bond.
