Application and Specifications (Thin, Flexible, Natural Stone) Gera Green | SKIN Stone Veneers 122 x 61 cm
SKIN stone wallpapers are an innovative product for both interior and exterior wall cladding.
They offer a practical solution for achieving a genuine stone surface and texture in situations where traditional heavy stone is unsuitable.
Applications include external and internal wall cladding, ceilings, furniture, doors, fireplaces, kitchen backsplashes, and wet areas. They are not suitable for flooring in commercial spaces or areas subject to heavy wear.
They can be applied on cement, drywall, plywood, MDF, brick, melamine, acrylic, or other plastic boards.
The stone surface of SKIN wallpapers is UV-resistant, withstanding intense sunlight for years.
They accommodate thermal expansion and contraction typical for common construction surfaces and are resistant to high temperatures and multiple freeze-thaw cycles due to their impregnated surface.
Each sheet is unique, with natural variations in color and texture—a hallmark of real stone beauty.

Composition
-
100% natural stone
-
Adhesive
-
Fiberglass
-
PVC backing
Sheet Size: 122 x 61 cm
Thickness: 2–3 mm
Weight: 2–3 kg per m²
Flexibility
SKIN wallpapers are formable and bend to a minimum radius of 20.32 cm, depending on the color and stone type.
With heat, even tighter curves can be achieved. Thanks to the PVC backing, the material has excellent strength and flexibility, allowing it to bend inward or outward as required by design.
Basic Installation Steps
-
Prepare the necessary tools and materials.
-
Prepare both the surface and the SKIN stone wallpaper.
-
Install, secure, and seal the joints.
-
Impregnate the surface.
For detailed instructions on each step, follow the guidelines carefully to create unique interior or exterior designs using SKIN stone wallpapers.
Safety Measures
Always wear protective gear when handling SKIN wallpapers: gloves, safety goggles, and a dust mask.
Cutting releases fiberglass dust, so protection for eyes and skin is essential.
Required Tools
-
Angle grinder or circular saw with thin cutting disc
-
Trowel with V3 notched edge (3mm triangular teeth)
-
Rubber roller
-
Measuring tape, fine sandpaper, masking tape
-
Safety gear: gloves, goggles, dust mask
Preparation
-
Store wallpapers flat and protect the surface from scratching.
-
Clean the surfaces of dust, moisture, or contamination—wet spots may affect adhesive strength.
-
Prime the walls.
-
Dry-fit the stone sheets before gluing to decide on layout based on texture and shade. Number the sheets according to the chosen order.
Adhesive
We recommend using Soudal Fix ALL—a flexible, polymer-based mounting adhesive.
Since SKIN wallpapers are veneers, they need to expand and contract with the surface they're applied to.
For outdoor use, always account for thermal expansion. Adhesion may fail between non-porous materials.
In wet areas, increase adhesive quantity and ensure proper waterproofing and impregnation.
Installation and Fixing
-
Measure the surface and calculate how many full sheets and cuts are required.
-
Make paper templates and attach them to the wallpaper using masking tape for accurate cutting and to protect the surface.
-
Always cut from the back side to avoid scratching the surface.
-
Use care during installation—the surface scratches easily.
For exterior use and wet rooms, use Soudal FIX ALL (bucket, 4kg).
Apply adhesive to the back with a 3mm notched trowel—use approx. 1kg per m².
A full surface adhesive comb coat ensures waterproofing as it acts as both glue and sealant.
For interiors, use the Hi-Tack polymer adhesive (tube)—easy to apply with a silicone gun.
Apply vertical lines every 10 cm on the wall or wallpaper back. Press with a rubber roller, removing all air bubbles.
Coverage: ~1 tube per sheet.
Fix the wallpaper carefully to the wall.
Start gluing from the center outward.
Wipe excess adhesive immediately with a damp cloth.
Let the adhesive set for a few minutes, then roll firmly to push out any trapped air bubbles.
In corners, allow a 2mm front edge overlap to hide the backing.
Secure with double-sided masking tape and after hardening, lightly sand the seam to create a smooth transition.
Cutouts (e.g., for sockets)
Drilling holes is easy using standard tools like a drill bit or diamond hole saw for dry drilling.
Jointing / Grouting
Leaving or omitting joints depends on project needs and design preference. Always protect the edges with masking tape.
Without Joints
-
Sheets are glued tightly together for a seamless look and larger visual surface.
-
Faster and easier to install—no measuring or grouting needed.
-
Slight sanding of sheet edges may be required for tight corner fits.
-
A full adhesive comb coat (e.g., Soudal Fix ALL) ensures water protection.
With Joints
-
Adds a more traditional, aesthetic stone tile appearance.
-
Allows for design variation and added visual interest.
-
Gaps of 2–5 mm simulate separate stone slabs.
-
Requires more time and skill: tape, grout in matching color, then clean.
Impregnation
To ensure easy maintenance and protection from staining and frost, SKIN wallpapers must be impregnated.
We recommend professional sealants from LTP (UK) or AKEMI (Germany).
-
Apply after installation, being careful with adhesive and grout contact.
-
For interiors: 1 coat. For exteriors or wet rooms: at least 2 coats.
-
1 liter of sealant covers ~30 m² (1 coat).
-
For cleaning: use a lint-free cloth and pH-neutral detergents.
