Mattstone LTP is one of the most powerful impregnators for natural stone available on the market, produced by the British company LTP, known for its high-quality products for cleaning, impregnating, and maintaining natural stones, porcelain, and ceramic surfaces. Founded in 1984, LTP has built a strong reputation for providing effective solutions catering to both the domestic and professional markets.
Mattstone LTP is specially designed for unpolished surfaces (travertine, sandstone, slate, marble, thermal flaked other natural stones, terracotta, bricks, and concrete). It does not change the appearance of the surface. A perfect choice for both interior and exterior applications, it is available in two variants - alcohol-based and water-based, and in packaging of 1 liter and 5 liters.
Why impregnate stone?
Stone is valued for its natural beauty, durability, and timeless appeal, making it a popular choice for both interior and exterior applications. However, to preserve its aesthetic and structural integrity, it is essential to treat stone surfaces with impregnation. This process involves applying a sealant that penetrates the stone, providing protection from various environmental and usage-related factors. Here’s why impregnating stone is crucial:
1. Increased Durability
Impregnating stone significantly enhances its durability. Despite its inherent strength, natural stone can be porous and prone to wear. By applying a penetrating sealant, the stone’s internal structure is reinforced, making it more resistant to chipping, cracking, and other forms of mechanical damage. This is particularly important for high-traffic areas such as floors and outdoor pathways, which endure constant use and pressure.
2. Stain Protection
One of the primary benefits of impregnating stone is its ability to protect against stains. Natural stone surfaces, especially those in kitchens and bathrooms, are susceptible to absorbing liquids such as water, oils, and wine. These substances can cause unsightly stains that are difficult, if not impossible, to remove. An impregnating sealant creates a barrier that repels liquids, preventing them from penetrating the stone and causing discoloration.
3. Weather Resistance
Exterior stone surfaces are constantly exposed to weather conditions, including rain, UV radiation, temperature fluctuations, and pollutants. These factors can cause weathering, leading to loss of luster and structural degradation over time. Impregnation helps stones withstand the effects of weather by providing a protective layer that guards against moisture penetration, UV damage, and other environmental aggressors. This protection helps maintain the stone’s appearance and structural integrity in the long term.
4. Easy Maintenance
Impregnated stones are much easier to clean and maintain compared to untreated stones. The sealant reduces the stone’s ability to absorb dirt and dust, making surfaces easier to wipe and keep clean. For interior applications like countertops and floors, this means less frequent and less intensive cleaning. For exterior applications, this means fewer worries about moss, algae, or mold growth, especially in damp or shaded areas.
5. Preservation of Natural Beauty
Stone is valued for its unique, natural appearance, with each piece offering different patterns and colors. Impregnation helps preserve this beauty by preventing discoloration or damage to the stone. Sealants are designed to penetrate the stone without forming a visible layer on the surface, ensuring that the stone retains its natural look while being protected from potential harm.
Using high-quality materials such as natural stone can significantly increase the value of a property. However, the added value of stone elements can be compromised if they become damaged and unattractive over time. Impregnating stone surfaces not only ensures their durability but also maintains their aesthetic appearance, thereby preserving or even enhancing the property's value. This is a valuable investment for property owners and managers who want to maximize the market appeal of their property.
Advantages of Matstone LTP
- Delicately enhances the color and texture of the material it is applied to.
- Provides maximum protection against water and grease.
- Ideal for application with a polishing machine.
- Suitable for both interior and exterior applications.
- Allows the treated surface to breathe.
How to Use:
Shake the bottle before use. The surface to be treated should be completely clean and dry, free of any dirt, cement, or plaster. Apply the product with a roller, soft cloth, or brush and wait at least two hours before applying the next layer. If the flooring is highly absorbent (such as antiqued travertine), additional layers may be needed in the future. In these cases, the product should be applied generously. One hour after application, buff the surface with a lint-free cloth or a polishing machine to achieve evenness and remove any excess product. The product dries in approximately two hours, but full durability is achieved after an additional three days.
Note:
The goal is to fully saturate the substrate with the impregnator without leaving any excess. Do not apply in direct sunlight. This product helps protect against the formation of grease stains.
Consumption According to Surface Porosity:
Low porosity — approx. 1-2 liters per 10 sq.m
High porosity — approx. 3-4 liters per 10 sq.m
Do not apply on polished surfaces.
